Veronica Handover was born in Egypt, where her father was a successful cotton trader. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Peru, before they ultimately settled in Sudan.

Veronica completed her schooling in England before going on to study Modern Languages at Cardiff University. Having achieved a Cambridge Certificate of Education, she taught for a number of years at schools in Swindon where her husband, Richard, was then based.

Veronica went on to set up her own nursery pre-school, which she ran for nine years. During that time she moonlighted as an Ofsted inspector and later became an NVQ assessor in Early Years Education.

Veronica and Richard have three adult children and divide their time between Wiltshire, London, and the Greek island of Zakynthos.

No Small Thing is Veronica’s much-anticipated first novel.
